Dr Kulkarni is a Professor (formerly Additional Director–Research) at CAFRAL, a research institution promoted by the Reserve Bank of India. Her academic research focuses on banking, digital finance, and housing markets in India, while her policy work spans central banking and financial regulation. Dr Kulkarni’s work has appeared in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, and the Journal of Corporate Finance. She has an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from IIT Bombay, an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University, and a Ph.D. in business administration (finance and real estate) from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
